Scholarship Introduction

To strengthen Taiwan's academic and cultural ties with Europe, Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) launched the Taiwan-Europe Connectivity Scholarship (TEC) in 2021 to encourage outstanding European students to study Mandarin Chinese courses in Taiwan. National Cheng Kung University offers European students who are interested in learning Mandarin and exploring Taiwanese culture. This scholarship offers a unique experience that combines academic studies and cultural immersion, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of Taiwan's language, history, and society.

Scholarship

Student who award with the scholarship will be eligible for an approximately USD 650 (Euro 590,GBP 520) dollars subsidy per month. Maximum awarded month would be 2 months. Every year, the amount of scholarship might be adjusted depending on the actual budget.

Eligibility

  1. Students with nationality on the list of MOFA approved European countries.
  2. Students with at least a 2.75 GPA and currently enrolled at a university/college as full-time students.
  3. Student must achieve at least CEFR B2 level language proficiency in English or Chinese.

Requirement

Exchange Students as Scholarship recipients are mandatory to apply for the weekly 2-hour Chinese language courses at the National Cheng Kung University Chinese Language Center.

Scholarship Quota available in 2023

Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, United Kingdom.

Selection Procedure

Depend on each unit.

An academic excellence and achievement review will be conducted by the selection committee. All successful applicants will be notified before the following dates mentioned above.

Suspension Cancellation

Chinese passport or Taiwanese passport (including Hong Kong and Macau) holders or students who currently receive financial benefits from any Taiwan government agencies or educational institutions are ineligible to apply.
